YES!, you can work all over the country with Locum Placements.
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) allows doctors and other health professionals to work anywhere in Australia, subject to any restrictions or conditions as listed on your registration.
It's essential to note that all doctors practicing in Australia are required to hold AHPRA registration, which can fall under categories like Limited, Provisional, General, or Specialist. Helix Alliance is here to provide guidance in determining the appropriate registration type for you.
Obtaining your initial registration with AHPRA is typically a process that takes 6-8 weeks for approval. This process involves meeting various Registration Standards, which encompass factors such as English proficiency, criminal history checks, and recency of practice. Throughout this journey, Helix Alliance will stand by your side, offering support and guidance.
For the most, Locum contracts provide travel and/or accommodation as an add on to the attractive package for Locum doctors whilst working the agreed period. The accommodation and/or travel is always agreed on beforehand and will be set out specifically in the Locum agreement.
A small number of inner city locations (for example Sydney and Melbourne) may not offer travel or accommodation, where they ideally are looking for more local team members - you will sometimes be offered a fleet car or hire car to use outside of rostered hours.
100% of the time, a Helix Alliance team member will work towards the best arrangement for yourself during your Locum.
This depends on where you work.
The hospital or clinic already have their payroll systems in place and therefore decide how a Locum position is remunerated. For the most part the first two instances will apply.

Your Locum support member can let you know which method applies for each Locum position you apply for.

All locum doctors employed through a hospital's payroll system (PAYG employees) will automatically receive coverage under the hospital's State Medical Indemnity Policy. In some cases, hospitals may also extend indemnity cover to locum doctors working as contractors (including sole traders and Pty Ltd companies) during their locum assignments.
It's important to note that the decision to provide indemnity cover to contractors is at the discretion of the hospital or medical practice. Helix Alliance respects this discretion and cannot demand such coverage on your behalf. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to ensure you understand the extent of your medical indemnity coverage before beginning your locum.
Regardless of the level of indemnity coverage offered by the client during your locum assignment, we strongly advise all locum doctors working in Australia to maintain their own private medical indemnity insurances.

Locum placements can vary in duration, ranging from brief assignments lasting just a few days to more extended opportunities that span several weeks or even months.
Many of our medical practitioners often opt for longer placements, as they provide ample time to immerse themselves in the local community and build strong connections with the healthcare teams.
